Maryland Behavioral Health Community Submits Comments on the Essential Health Benefits Guidance

The National Council For Community Behavioral Health Care developed a factsheet on what it means for behavioral health that states will be making decisions about the Essential Health Benefits Plan. It is imperative that we stay engaged in the process and fight to make sure that a full continuum of care for mental health and substance use disorder is provided.

US Department of Health and Human Services requested comments on the Essential Health Benefits Plan Bulletin released in December. The Mental Health Association of Maryland  and other mental health consumer, family and provider groups co-signed the comments sent to US Department of Health and Human Services by the Coalition for Whole Health. The National Council for Behavioral Health Care also submitted comments.

And just for fun- watch Secretary Sebelius  defend the Essential Health Benefits Package guidance to Jon Stewart on the Daily Show.

We will continue to monitor Maryland’s implementation of health care reform. Sign up for Alerts
